The relevance of Unity

Paul on SundayI was attracted to Unity back in 1977 because of its relevance. It was not a Sunday religion or a book of rules; it offered a way of living my life. I feel the same way today. It’s great to hear the message of Truth on Sunday and to experience it with like-minded people, but what’s more exciting is that we can take the teachings into our week. They work on all levels of our life experience: at work, home, in relationships, and in our personal search for meaning.

To be relevant a teaching has to appeal to all levels of our understanding. It has to make sense for our body, our emotions, our mind, and our Spirit.

The message of our interconnectedness and inherent Unity does that for me. I am not separate and alone. My good is here because God is here, always. I have tried and true principles to apply that unleash limitless good, and I am worthy to receive that good.

None of this works, though, unless I am willing to apply it. My job is to carry the teachings forward by activating them.

This all begins in my awareness. Focused on possibility and non–distracted by conditions and circumstance, I move confidently forward.

As we enter the fall season (Thank You God!) I invite you to dedicate the next four months, up until Christmas and the New Year, to exploring the relevance of the Unity teachings in your life.

Contemplate the five essential Unity Principles, read a Unity book, come to services and classes, find a way to serve, let go of resentment, and take wings and fly. As a modern Zen master used to say, “get intimate with your life.” It’s an adventure, enjoy it. It’s a journey, appreciate it. It’s an open secret, discover it. It’s a miracle, give thanks for it!

Every blessing in our Oneness,

Paul
