Pooling Water (Homage to Saraswati, the river goddess of knowledge, music and art) poem by Paul John Roach

Pooling Water (Homage to Saraswati, the river goddess of knowledge, music and art)
Pooling water attracts the goddess and the swan
In the flow is light and the light moves on.
It moves on because it cannot stay
Everything that blooms experiences decay.
Pooling water that is full of seed and sperm
Creates the conditions for return.
But when the lotus flower closes at the end of day
The goddess signifies what we cannot say.
On the golden strings of vina or lyre
A note is struck awaiting reply.
Look, the moon’s image is in every pool
But only one moon is in the sky.
